We recently completed a 4K studio project in a newly renovated space inside the Student Union building at Duquesne University. The leadership at the school wanted to bring attention to their media arts and broadcast center that borders Academic Walk. We worked with the architects and contractors to design a head-turning studio enclosed in glass that really shows off the technology.
Students and visitors can't miss the 98" NEC 4K monitor on the back wall of the studio. The NewTek TC2 Elite switcher drives the broadcast shows that are shot with Panasonic AW-UE150K 4K PTZ cameras. The operators communicate with the ClearCom FreeSpeak II intercom system and using the AJA KUMO router and OpenGear converter cards, video and audio sources of any kind can be sent to the switcher and monitors.
We also took advantage of existing fiber between the Student Union and College Hall to connect this system with a secondary studio and control room via NDI, as well as to the student radio station using MultiDyne converters. Four Adobe edit and graphics systems are located in the control room, and elements are easily shared between all of the users.
